Portage

Portage is a home-visiting educational service for pre-school children with additional needs, and their families.

I qualified as a Portage Visitor in 2001 and have worked with children with a range of additional needs including Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Hydrocephalus and Edward’s Syndrome.  Being a Portage Visitor I believe is a real privilege as it allows an opportunity for people to work together to develop an understanding of an individual child’s strengths and celebrate each developmental step.

I would like to thank all the parents and all the children that I’ve been lucky enough to have spent hours watching and interacting with in order to identify ways to develop their learning through play. (This picture is the wonderful Dylan who you can see and find out more about by visiting Northamptonshire Ups’n’Downs).

More information can be obtained from the excellent National Portage Association website.
